Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives will open our doors to welcome guests from 1st September 2020 with strict adherence to public health and safety regulations of the Maldives government.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our team has remained committed to working with our local and trusted health and safety organisations in the Maldives to implement additional measures to ensure the wellbeing of our guests and colleagues.

Building on this work, we will implement the IHG Clean Promise, where the rigorous cleaning procedures of our IHG Way of Clean programme has been expanded and developed with experts from Ecolab and Diversey – both world leaders in hygiene and cleaning technologies and services.

Starting from 1 June 2020, we’re reassuring our guests that good isn’t good enough. We’re committing to the highest levels of cleanliness that meets your standards and gives you greater confidence and peace of mind. And if that isn’t what you find when you check-in, then we promise to make it right.

Focused on deep cleaning with hospital-grade disinfectants in villas and public spaces, adjusting our service in restaurants and bars, and developing contactless transactions and check-ins, some of our enhanced health and safety procedures include:

  • Domestic Transportation: Disinfection and decontamination procedures approved by the Maldives Health Protection Agency will be undertaken on speedboats after every passenger disembarkation with physical distancing on board all resort vessels during passenger transfers
  • Arrival: Reduced contact and physical interaction at check-in and check-out; touchless transactions; front-desk barriers; sanitiser stations; sanitised key cards
  • Villas: Verification of sanitisation with items marked as cleaned / ready to use (e.g., glassware, remote controls); removal of in-room collateral or other high-touch items; upgraded laundry protocols
  • Restaurants & Bars: New standards and approaches to dine-in services, in-villa dining, and events
  • Public Spaces and Amenities: Visible and more frequent deep cleaning of high-touch surfaces; spacing / reduction of furniture for social distancing; best practices for pools, fitness centres, and lounges
  • Medical Assistance: Resident doctor certified on Covid-19 protocols of the Maldives Health Protection Agency available 

As part of our commitment, IHG has also been working closely with a team of medical experts at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, who will provide counsel on translating clinical concepts, infectious disease management, and overall health optimisation, to provide personal safety resources such as:

  • Individual guest amenity cleaning kits and personal-use sanitiser / wipes
  • Visible sanitiser stations in public guest areas and facilities and colleague spaces
  • Social distancing signage to support new operating procedures
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidance for resort colleagues
