To minimise our impact on the environment and additionally improve it in its entirety, we have implemented several mechanisms from banning single use plastics to effective waste management protocols.

The waters around our resort in the Maldives are teeming with exotic marine life – and it’s the most important to us! In order to save the delicate eco system which face a constant threat due to numerous reasons, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives actively partakes in marine conservation, whether it’s our Reefscaping Project, Turtle & Manta Project or a walk with our marine biologist that aims in educating and raising awareness with our guests. Wave Energy Project by Holiday Inn Resort Maldives

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University together with the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Maldives, and Kokyo Tatemono Company Limited of Tokyo, Japan, initiated a wave energy project in Maldives on the famed surf break “Kandooma Right” located right on our doorstep.

Solar Power

As part of our efforts to minimise our impact on the environment and continue seeking more sustainable energy resources, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives has partnered with Swimsol to implement a solar power energy system.

Waste, Water & Electricity Management

Separate bins and waste management processes were set up to effectively recycle food waste, plastics, tin, metal and other general waste. From harvesting rainwater to recycling excess water from the A/C, to use in various areas from gardening to ‘foot baths’, we have aimed to use the best methods to effectively make the most of our resources.

Community Engagement

As part of our Community Engagement, we have initiated and implemented several programs throughout the year from providing long term assistance to the Home for People with Special Needs on Guraidhoo island to a tree planting program that occurs twice a year.
